SBO October 2011-ALL_Page_35Chris Porter has been on staff with the Marching Spartans since 2006. Porter, a Grammy Music Educator quarter-finalist, is well-known for her previous work at Brooklyn Center Secondary and her vision to make band participation accessible to all students regardless of income. Under her guidance, the program earned a Grammy Signature School Enterprise Award, the Mr. Holland’s Opus Grant, the NAMM Best Communities for Music Education award (2011, 2013), and raised over $100,000 in grant funding. She marched with the Patriots Marching Band in high school, marched two years with Minnesota Brass International, and has taught marching band and indoor percussion since the start of her teaching career.

Ryan Larson – Drumline Instructor

larsonRyan Larson is currently the drumline instructor at Richfield High School.  He is also a Band Director, Chapel Worship Leader, and Tech Integrationist at Minnehaha Academy in Minneapolis, MN, among other freelance work.  He attended the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities from 2006-2010 and graduated with a B.M. in Music Education.  He did his student teaching and taught for 3 years in Roseville, MN before landing at Minnehaha.  He has always had a particular passion for marching band.  He has marched with the Annandale Marching Cardinals (5 years), the Pride of Minnesota(4 years), and Minnesota Brass Indoor (1 year).  He has also taught drumline at St. Francis High School (5 years), Andover High School(1 year), and now Richfield High School(3 years and counting).

Amanda Flom – Colorguard Instructor

IMG_9810I have been teaching Colorguard since 2005 and have had the pleasure of working with many different schools and organizations all over MN.  I have also been a performer myself for many different groups.  I’ve been a part of MN Brass, and Carolina Crown just to name a couple.  I look forward to instructing, and developing the Richfield Colorguard to reach their full potential to the best of my ability!

Tori Nordine – Colorguard Instructor

tori 1I am a junior Exercise and Sports Science student with a minor in Psychology at St. Catherine University and I intend on continuing my education into a Doctorate of Physical Therapy Graduate Program after I graduate. I participated in colorguard throughout high school and began teaching right after I graduated. Music and Dancing have been a major part of my life and I am thankful that I am able to share my passion with this awesome group!
